ASHLAND – An auto detailing and small repair business with ties to Wooster has opened a shop in the city with plans for more stores.

Pro Touch Vehicle Protection, 2135 Claremont Ave., had its grand opening Thursday hosted by the Ashland Area Chamber of Commerce.

The detailing shop, co-owned by brothers Ron and Dan Nagy, held a soft opening in February.

Services include detailing, window tinting, paint protection and correction, rust proofing, and small damage repair.

It’s the second Pro Touch location after the original in Wooster. The brothers are planning on further expansion into Medina, Ron Nagy said.

Brothers Mark and Ryon Mays started Pro Touch in 2008 in Wadsworth but then sold the business in January 2011, according to Pro Touch’s website.

Ashland was picked for the Nagy brothers’ first expansion because of the city’s business-friendly approach, said Ron Nagy, who has 40 years in the automotive industry, starting out working with his father.

Pro Touch has 10 employees and hasn’t had a difficult time finding them for its growing workforce. Ron Nagy said there has been a rise in interest in the automotive mechanical work trades.

With inflation impacting most businesses, Pro Touch isn’t immune to it, with Ron Nagy noting the cost of paint has gone up.

Mayor Matt Miller spoke at the grand opening.

“Claremont Avenue was the commercial corridor in the city of Ashland,” Miller said.

Miller touched on revitalization efforts of downtown Ashland and discussed similar efforts occurring along the Claremont strip.

Recent projects include the Claremont Avenue bridge replacement project, the up-and-coming Claremont Avenue re-paving, updates to Ashland’s hydropillar and the new Ashland County Dog’s Shelter.

“We’re so glad you found the experience was easy here in Ashland County and that’s exactly what we’re aiming to accomplish,” Miller said. “We want to make it the place where people want to do business.”
