What is the Average Cost of Routine Car Maintenance?

Average Car Maintenance Cost for Your Vehicle

Before you purchased your car, you may have thought about the maintenance of the car. It is even said that the amount you spend on buying a car is minimal compared to the amount you’ll spend on car repair and maintenance. Perhaps, this is why you want to know what basic routine maintenance of your car encompasses and the amount they cost.

To maintain your car, you don’t know a rigid budget. This is because unforeseen circumstances may suck into your finances even when you didn’t make plans for them.  However, having an average idea of the expenses your car could suck could help you plan for the monthly maintenance fee you want to dedicate to your car.

The following costs are the average maintenance expenses based on your use.

  • New battery:

To replace your battery, let each battery be used for up to five years. If your car doesn’t spend up to five years before you replace them, you need not bother about this. To replace your car battery, the timeline depends on whether you use your car the most during cold or hot weather.

Also, if you frequently use the headlight of your vehicle or you play music most times in the car, it could exhaust faster than you expect. Thus, budget about $60 to $200 for your car battery.

  • Oil Change:

Car experts recommend the frequent change of your oil every 5,000 to 7,000 miles you travel especially if it’s a new car. This is because the oil becomes blacker and the blacker it gets, the more it poses a danger to your car engine

Thus, replacing your oil should cost between $25 to $55. If you’re using synthetic oil for the replacement, you can budget about $45 to $75.

  • Brake Pad Replacement:

This could be trickier. This is because the amount of times you hit the road determines how weak the brake pad would be. Your driving habit also determines how quickly you’ll change your brake pads. However, there are signs that you need to replace your brake pad and this first is if you hear screeching sounds when you hit on your brakes.

If it is also difficult to feel the effect of your brake when you press it, you need to replace it ASAP. Doing this could cost between $35 to $150.

  • Windshield Wiper Blade:

On a rainy day, if you can’t wipe your windshield, you may have to park your car and wait until the rain subsides. This is because you could get into an accident if you keep driving. The average duration for a wiper is a year. If after it, you need to change the blades, it will cost about $25 to $85.

  • Tire Rotation or Replacement:

There are different types of tires for your vehicle. To be on the safe side, your tire is exhausted if it has traveled about 5,000 to 8,000 miles. Fixing the tire rotation would cost about $35 to $45. To change the entire tires, you should consider $400 to $2,000 depending on your type of car.

Through all these, you can effectively stick to a budget and manage your finances over your car. You can also take auto insurance to cater to these petty needs.
